Dr Zulfi Arsan

Dr. Zulfi Arsan is former Head Veterinarian at Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary - Way Kambas NP (SRS WK) and has succesfully double SRS population from 5 to 10 rhinos within 9 years (2015-2023) through intensive breeding programs and intensive veterinary care including complicated pregnancies involving uterine tumor, dystocia and newly born calf resucitation. Dr. Arsan also has intensively involved and lead team to give training on sumatran rhino management to new veterinarians and keepers from SRS WK, Kalimantan and Aceh, thus also take part in the teams to established guidelines and protocols for both Sumatran and Javan rhinos. Dr. Arsan also has served as ex-officio member of IUCN-SSC Sumatran Rhino Husbandry and Propagation Expert Advisory Board. Dr. Arsan has particular interests on both Indonesian rhino species and involved on its conservation at certain degree since he was a veterinary student in 1990s, and also has work for several other species conservation since then.
